Front of House

Volunteers for usher, greeter, and parking must be 14+ or 12+ with an adult. Volunteers handling money or alcohol (concessions, raffle, box office) must be 18+.

Ushers

Ushers check tickets at the door to ensure each ticket is for that day’s performance. Ushers should make themselves familiar with the seating in the theatre, in case any patrons need help finding their seats. Once the show is running and everyone is settled, you are welcome to sit and watch the performance. At the end of the show, walk through with volunteers and pick up any trash.
Commitment: 1 hour before the performance

Greeters

Greeters welcome patrons to the show and into the theatre by standing out in the breezeway, opening the door for patrons and directing any traffic. If there is another event happening in the auditorium, make sure patrons know which way to enter the theatre. You may also ask if they already have their tickets so they do not need to stop at the Box Office. You are welcome to sit and watch the performance once it begins.
Commitment: 1 hour before performance

Concessions

Volunteers sell concessions before the show starts and during intermission. After intermission any low concession items will need to be restocked. You are welcome to sit and watch the performance before and after intermission. This requires handling cash and credit cards. At the end of the show, walk through with volunteers and pick up any trash.
Commitment: 1 hour before performance / intermission

Raffle

Volunteers sell raffle tickets. This requires handling cash. You may be asked to draw the winning raffle ticket at the end of intermission. At the end of the show, walk through with volunteers and pick up any trash.

Commitment: 1 hour before performance / intermission

Box Office

Volunteers pull pre-paid/will call tickets, take phone calls and sell tickets to walk up patrons. This requires handling cash, checks and credit cards.
Commitment: 6-7:30pm, or 12:30-1pm performance days

Parking Attendant

For our Season Ticket holders and handicapped patrons, we reserve parking spaces. At each show we have a parking attendant who makes sure that those who have called ahead can park. You do not need to park any patrons car for them. Those who have not called ahead will also be directed to a handicapped space wherever possible. On busy nights, the attendant will inform patrons of alternative parking venues. You are welcome to sit and watch the performance after parking.
Commitment: 1 hour before performance starts

Other Opportunities

Audition Assistance

A volunteer will be asked to be at the audition check in table to assist those coming to audition. Auditionees who have submitted an audition form prior will need to check in and receive a previously assigned audition number, and those who have not will need to fill out a form upon arrival and be assigned a number. This may require telling auditionees where to wait until auditions start and directing them to the location of their audition, or passing out scripts depending on the needs of the show.
Commitment: Monday and/or Tuesday evening for Main Stage or Edge, Saturday all day for Youth (can be broken into shifts)

Green Room Assistance

During our larger, or children’s shows we ask parents to do ‘green room duty’ This means staying throughout the show, keeping the noise levels down and assisting wherever needed with costumes and make up. They also make sure our kids stay safely where they should be at all times.

On Stage

Performers

Each show relies on the performers, all of whom are volunteers. Aged 4—84, we need people to audition and share their talents with us. Not everyone will be a star, but those in the chorus or background create the atmosphere and make a show possible. We need actors, dancers and singers. No experience is necessary, just the willingness to attend rehearsals when needed, follow direction, learn your lines and have lots of fun!
Commitment: Rehearsals on various week day evenings (or weekends if needed), performances, photo calls, strike day—as directed

Musicians

We sometimes need people to play for a show, or as part of a show. If you are talented and experienced in playing for the public, let us know and we will let you know if we can use your talent.
Commitment: Rehearsals and performance times

Technical

Fly Crew

Run Crew/Lights

Run crew is responsible for pre-setting a show, moving set pieces during scene changes, handling props if necessary. Techs assigned to lighting are responsible for running the light board and spot lights during a performance. To run the light board you need to be able to follow cues and to run the spot you need to follow the show and stay awake!

Set Production

Sets are built weekdays 10-5 and weekends when necessary and is supervised by our Technical Director.

The costumer may need assistance in organizing or production of costumes. A show might also require someone backstage to assist actors with quick changes.
Commitment: As much time as you can spare or a week of evening tech/dress rehearsals, 3-4 hours per performance, and strike the last day

Props

Props are bought, made or retrieved from our storage areas. During a show the props need to be in the right place at the right time and moved on and off the set at scene changes.
Commitment: Buying props, then 3-4 hours per performance

Lights

The lighting technician may need assistance hanging the lights during the week or over Tech weekend. To hang lights you need to be able to climb ladders.
