SUMMARY:Equus
DESCRIPTION:March 18 & 19 2026 \nDr. Martin Dysart\, a psychiatrist\, is confronted with Alan Strang\, a boy who has blinded six horses in a violent fit of passion. Alan’s passion is as foreign to Dysart as the act itself. To the boy’s parents\, it is a hideous mystery; Alan has always adored horses. To Dysart\, it is a psychological puzzle that leads both doctor and patient to a complex and disturbingly dramatic confrontation. \nWritten by Peter Shaffer

SUMMARY:Buried Child
DESCRIPTION:October 22 & 23 2025 \nBuried Child is a play that explores the inner tensions of a rural existence\, father-son relationships\, and the place women hold in an ambiguous domestic atmosphere. The play depicts a Middle-American agricultural family that is less-than prosperous. The family has a dark\, terrible secret: Years ago\, Tilden\, the eldest of three sons belonging to Dodge and Halie\, committed an act of incest with his mother. She bore his child\, a baby boy\, which Dodge drowned and buried in the field behind their farmhouse. The act destroyed the family. The play depicts the fragmentation of the American nuclear family in a context of disappointment and disillusionment with American mythology and the American Dream. \nBy Sam Shepard

SUMMARY:Proof
DESCRIPTION:May 14\, 15\, 2025 \nOn the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday\, Catherine\, a troubled young woman\, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father\, a famous mathematician. Now\, following his death\, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister\, Claire; and the attentions of Hal\, a former student of her father’s who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows\, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father’s madness—or genius—will she inherit? \nThis poignant drama about love and reconciliation unfolds on the back porch of a house settled in a suburban university town\, that is\, like David Auburn’s writing\, both simple and elegant. \nBy David Auburn

SUMMARY:Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
DESCRIPTION:March 19\, 20 2025 \nIt’s 2AM and George and Martha are just getting started. The middle-aged married couple\, a once-promising historian and his boss’s frustrated daughter\, welcome a younger professor and his wife for a nightcap—only to ensnare them in increasingly dangerous rounds of fun and games. An unblinking portrait of two American marriages\, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is Edward Albee’s explosively comedic and harrowingly profound masterpiece. \nBy Edward Albee

SUMMARY:November
DESCRIPTION:October 16\, 17\, 2024 \nDavid Mamet’s Oval Office satire depicts one day in the life of a beleaguered American commander-in-chief. It’s November in a Presidential election year\, and incumbent Charles Smith’s chances for reelection are looking grim. Approval ratings are down\, his money’s running out\, and nuclear war might be imminent. Though his staff has thrown in the towel and his wife has begun to prepare for her post-White House life\, Chuck isn’t ready to give up just yet. Amidst the biggest fight of his political career\, the President has to find time to pardon a couple of turkeys — saving them from the slaughter before Thanksgiving — and this simple PR event inspires Smith to risk it all in attempt to win back public support. With Mamet’s characteristic no-holds-barred style\, November is a scathingly hilarious take on the state of America today and the lengths to which people will go to win. \nBy David Mamet

SUMMARY:Radium Girls
DESCRIPTION:May 15 & 16\, 2024 \n1926. Radium is a miracle cure\, Madame Curie an international celebrity\, and luminous watches the latest rage. Until the girls who paint those watch dials begin to die. Based on the true story of the women and men who worked for the U.S. Radium Corporation in Orange\, N.J. Radium Girls is a fast-paced stage play. A wry examination of the commercialization of science and the twin American obsessions with the pursuit of health and wealth makes this original drama from DW Gregory a continually relevant and entertaining play. \nBy DW Gregory

SUMMARY:Our American Cousin
DESCRIPTION:March 20 & 21\, 2024 \nThe last play President Lincoln ever attended. Our American Cousin is a farcical comedy whose plot is based on the introduction of an awkward\, boorish American to his aristocratic English relatives. Asa Trenchard has come to Trenchard Manor to stake claim to land which has been bequeathed to him by Squire Mark Trenchard…until he meets the lovely Mary Meredith (Mark Trenchard’s granddaughter)\, and he makes a big decision that affects his life and hers. Many other “quirky” characters come into play during his visit.  Although the 1858 play achieved great renown during its first few years and remained very popular throughout the second half of the 19th century\, Our American Cousin is best remembered as the play Abraham Lincoln was attending at Ford’s Theatre when he was assassinated by actor and Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth on April 14\, 1865 \nBy Tom Taylor

DESCRIPTION:October 18 & 19\, 2023 \nIrish-American Erik Blake has brought his wife and his mother for Thanksgiving at the new home of his daughter and her boyfriend. His mother (affectionately referred to as “Momo”) is suffering from Alzheimer’s\, and his other daughter Aimee has recently been the victim of a nasty breakup. The parents are disappointed that their daughters have left home to struggle in New York City\, and worried that they are abandoning their values. The Humans tells the story of the quintessential family reunion: a group of people who love each other but still wrestle with basic human fears: old age\, abandonment\, poverty\, and death. Filled with equal parts humor and hurt\, The Humans is a Tony-award winning play from popular playwright Stephen Karam (Speech and Debate). Winner of the 2016 Tony Award for Best Play. \nBy Stephen Karam

SUMMARY:Orson's Shadow
DESCRIPTION:May 17 & 18\, 2023 \nAn ingenious tale of two Hollywood giants—Orson Welles and Laurence Olivier. The time is 1960; the place is a West End theatre. Legendary critic Kenneth Tynan has made a startling proposal: Welles should direct Olivier and the young Joan Plowright in Rhinoceros\, Ionesco’s absurdist masterpiece. But it is the rehearsal process that brims with absurdity as titanic personalities\, including Vivien Leigh\, wrestle the muse in this witty and incisive depiction of the drama of theatre. \nBy Austin Pendleton

SUMMARY:Rhinoceros
DESCRIPTION:March 15 & 16\, 2022 \nThe sublime is confused with the ridiculous in this savage commentary on the human condition\, a staple of every theatre classroom and 20th century drama. A small town is besieged by one roaring citizen who becomes a rhinoceros and proceeds to trample on the social order. As more citizens are transformed into rhinoceroses\, the trampling becomes overwhelming\, and more and more citizens become rhinoceroses. One sane man\, Berenger\, remains\, unable to change his form and identity. \nBy Eugene Ionesco

SUMMARY:Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead
DESCRIPTION:October 19 & 20\, 2022 \nAn “unauthorized continuation\,” the play reimagines characters from the popular comic strip Peanuts as degenerate teenagers. When CB’s dog dies from rabies\, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid\, the target of this group’s bullying\, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use\, suicide\, eating disorders\, teen violence\, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that’s both haunting and hopeful. \nBy Bert V Royal

SUMMARY:Mockingbird
DESCRIPTION:Description\nCaitlin is an 11-year-old girl on the autism spectrum. Not all things make sense to her. Emotions are mysterious and voices are almost always too loud. Suddenly\, she must grapple with the unthinkable: a mass shooting has taken her brother away. He was the one person who helped her cope. Now she is alone with her grieving father and a cacophony of children at school. She struggles to understand empathy\, what facial expressions mean and why a drawing might have more than one color. We see the world from Caitlin’s point of view. We struggle as she does. We also take comfort in the times when she finds a friend\, draws a multicolored mockingbird and can finally cry for her brother. \nAudition Date\nTBD \nAdditional Info\nAdapted by Julie Jensen from the National Book Award-winning novel by Kathryn Erskine

SUMMARY:Hand to God
DESCRIPTION:Description\nAfter the death of his father\, meek Jason finds an outlet for his anxiety at the Christian Puppet Ministry\, in the devoutly religious\, relatively quiet small town of Cypress\, Texas. Jason’s complicated relationships with the town pastor\, the school bully\, the girl next door\, and—most especially—his mother are thrown into upheaval when Jason’s puppet\, Tyrone\, takes on a shocking and dangerously irreverent personality all its own. HAND TO GOD explores the startlingly fragile nature of faith\, morality\, and the ties that bind us. \nAudition Date\nFebruary 21st 6:30pm \nAdditional Info\nBy Robert Askins
